Holland Malt officially opens emission-free malt house in Eemshaven
Holland Malt has officially opened the world's first emission-free malt house in Eemshaven. The malt house has thus reduced its gas consumption from 18 million cubic meters to zero and also reduced net CO2 emissions to zero.
Holland Malt in Eemshaven uses heat pumps to heat the malting process. And last month, it entered into an agreement with Windpark Oostzeedijk for the purchase of sustainably generated electricity.
In addition to the malt house in Eemshaven, Holland Malt also has a malt house in Lieshout. The company produces over 400,000 tons of malt annually. At the end of 2021, the company announced plans to build an emission-free malt house in Eemshaven.
