Chemport Europe’s ecosystem is extremely suitable for chemical recycling. With many partners in the value chain and supporting knowledge institues nearby, it is a healthy breeding ground for bringing this technology to competitive levels with fossil-derived polyesters.
In chemical recycling processes, plastic waste is purified and chemically separated into pure chemical building blocks. These building blocks can be used to manufacture new plastics. Chemical recycling is in fact the best option when it comes to processing more complex plastics.
Companies involved
Many companies in the Chemport region are involved in chemical recycling. For instance CuRe Technology. This consortium is preparing a chemical recycling pilot plant at Getec.Park Emmen. See video below.
