Intermediate chemicals Amines
Amines are derivatives of ammonia in which one hydrogen is substituted. They form the starting point for the production of many products, ranging from the glue that is used to seal your tea bag to pesticides or spandex fibres.
Our developments
Delamine, a joint venture of Nouryon and Tosoh Corporation (Japan), produces ethylamine in Delfzijl from dichloroethane and ammonia. In the process, washing soda from the chlorine plant in Delfzijl is also used. Ethylene could be produced from bio based sources, as could the ammonia, which is now produced from natural gas.

Delamine produces ethylamine from ethylene dichloride and ammonia. Ethylene amines are used by Nouryon.
